Most photos taken with today’s modern digital cameras are of sufficient quality for us to use. The higher resolution the photo the better the quality of the YourArt design and the print will be. Above all your image should be clear and in focus.
If you're looking to create a portrait YourArt style from your photos then the ideal image is one where the subject takes up most of the picture.
If you don’t have high resolution digital photos (ones taken with a Cell phone camera for instance) – these can still be used, simply use our Free Image Check service here and we will let you know what your options are.
As far as Actual Photo resolution is concerned, photos with dimensions that are around 1500 x 1000 pixels and higher and over 1mb in file size should be sufficient – the best way to be sure is to upload them for us to see.
Scanning Tips:
If your photos weren’t taken with a digital camera you can either scan the photos yourself or have the photo scanned at any Photolab.
Here are some basic scanning guidelines:
- Scan the photo at the highest Resolution available: 1200 dpi to 4800 dpi. This will ensure that the photo can be printed at bigger sizes.
- Scan the photo at full colour (even if the photo is Black and White or Sepia)
- Make sure the glass of the scanner is clean: no dust or fingerprints as these will be captured in the scan.
- Once the image is scanned, view it on your Computer screen at 100% zoom to check the quality.
